Ashraya FM 90 is a community radio service situated at Kottarakara, Kollam District of Kerala State, Licensed by the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, New Delhi. Ashraya FM 90 is an initiative of ashraya charitable society to contribute the overall development of society. Ashraya charitable organization is functioning throughout the state of kerala for the past 30 years. We are giving shelter, food, medical treatment, educational aid and around 2000 destitute individuals are being sheltered and taken care of by our institutions.

Ashraya FM 90 community radio is not for profit but to ensure nationalism and patriotisms and is to give voice to the unheard voice of the communities that otherwise go unnoticed. The whole programme will be aired ranging from infotainment, education, health,environment,public awareness,agriculture to social welfare. Above all we aim at the overall development of the society through infotainment and edutainment.

Our Objectives

  • Ashraya fm 90 community radio address the challenges associated with climatic changes, lifestyle, scarcity of drinking water, communicable diseases, epidemic diseases, etc.
  • Provide platform for people from all walks of life especially for women, children, labourers and voiceless group of people to participate in the Democratic process of decision making and governance.
  • Emproved quality of education, develop the community to be able to undertake various health promoting activities, ensure safety and legal protection against abuse and exploitation, communal harmony and social well-being, to achieve disaster preparedness by providing prompt alert, special care to senior citizens, women empowerment to participate in the Democratic process, weather alerts, awareness campaign on family planning and unemployment.

Our Institutions & Services

Ashraya is a charitable organization functioning throughout the state of Kerala for the past 30 years, carrying out various philanthropic activities. Around 2000 destitute individuals are being sheltered and taken care of at our nine institutions located in different parts of the state. Our head office is situated at Kalayapuram, Kottarakkara in Kollam District. Ashraya is registered under the Travancore - Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act, 1955 (Act XII of 1955) with Reg. No Q537/96 and functioning in compliance with the rules and regulations stipulated by the government.

We are giving shelter, food and medical treatment to mentally ill persons rescued from the streets, elderly persons who are abandoned by their families and orphan children. Persons who are victims of other dreadful disease such as AIDS, Cancer, and TB etc. are also being sheltered and looked after by Ashraya.

Ashraya do not have any foreign aid. We are receiving nominal grants from the government. We run our projects using the donations and love gifts from the well-wishers. In addition Mathrunadu monthly publication, Ashraya Drama Troop, Dairy Farm etc. are some of the other sources of income for the daily expenses. Cultivation in about 25 acres of land either owned or leased by the society, helps to meet the food requirement of our units to some extent.

Ashraya plays an important role in the pain and palliative care activities. There is a mobile Hospital Unit consisting of Doctors, Nurses and facilities such as Pharmacy and Pathological Laboratory. We also conduct regular fogging with latest fogging machine to eradicate the mosquitos which spread different types of fever. Environmental cleanliness and delivering awareness classes to the inmates as well as public are other social activities which Ashraya follows.

One of the significant aim of Ashraya is an addiction free society from alcohol, tobbacco products and drugs. To achieve that goal, Ashraya is conducting Janabodhan Campaign in schools, colleges and publics through various routes such as Seminars, Debates, Street Plays, Contests and Pamphlets etc. Janbodhan 2022 is planned to cover up all the districts touching all the 140 constituencies, starting from Trivandrum to Kasargod. Inauguration of the Janabodhan 2022 programme was performed by Hon’ble Kerala Governor, Shri. Arif Mohammad Khan in Trivandrum on 29/06/2022.

In Ashraya more than 100 students are studying from nursery to MBBS. On completion of the education on the basis of getting Ashraya takes the responsibility of getting them a proper partner and this getting into a family life. In December 2010 Ashraya conducted a group marriage of 141 couples at Trivandrum.

Ashraya since after its inception on 7th April 1994 which is registered under the Charitable Society Act with register number Q537/96 in 1996, has procured NGO registration, 12 A and 80G registrations of income tax department, FCRA from central government and CSR registration from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. We have ISO certification and we do follow quality management system to ensure better care to the beneficiaries of our different institutions and projects. More than 100 awards were received by Ashraya or its meticulous services for the society.
